I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of
His Majesty's Treasury Mr. iddows' letter of the
18th March 1929, (16/Abroad/293 (7.1)), relative to
the Colonial Revenue of Hong Hong zaxessable to
Military Contribution.
In reply I am to request you to inform the
Army Council that My Lorda agree that the sum of
†54,324.33 paid by the British American Tobacco
Company (China) Limited in 1927 and subsequently re-
funded to the Company may properly be excluded fromN
the gross receipts for the purpose of assessing the
ilitary Contribution.
A copy of this letter has been sent to the
Colonial Office.
